How is a stalactite cave formed? What do finds from the Stone Age reveal? And who was St Beatus really? In the St Beatus Caves Museum you will find the answers - and the perfect introduction to your cave experience. Interactive stations invite you to touch, listen and discover.

The museum is located right by the cave entrance and is the ideal place to start before your cave tour. An app guide in German, English and French accompanies you through the exhibition. The museum visit is included in the admission to the cave - or can be booked as a stand-alone experience from CHF 6 for adults and CHF 3 for children.

The app guide accompanies you through all the stations of the museum and tells the stories behind the exhibits. From the geological formation of the cave system to the prehistoric discoveries - each station comes to life as you listen to the explanations.

Three languages available

The app guide is available in German, English and French and is included in the admission price. This means that international visitors can also enjoy the full depth of the exhibition - from the scientific context to the Beatus legend.

In the Beatus shop you will find a carefully selected range of souvenirs to extend your cave experience back home. Books on the geology and history of the dripstone cave, minerals, hand-picked articles and memorabilia - for yourself or as a gift.

Whether it's specialised literature on speleology in Switzerland or a small souvenir of a day at Lake Thun, the shop has something for everyone. The online shop is currently being rebuilt and will be operated externally in future.

Children's book tip: Flimbo, Emma & the secrets of the St. Beatus caves

This lovingly illustrated children's book takes young readers on an adventure through the cave world. Flimbo the dragon and Emma discover the secrets of the stalactite cave together - the perfect read before or after a visit. Available in the Beatus shop for CHF 23.

Frequently asked questions about the museum & shop

Yes, the museum visit with audio guide is included in the regular cave admission. All prices and ticket options can be found in the Infocenter. You can also visit the museum separately: Adults pay CHF 6, children CHF 3. The audio guide in German, English and French is included in both cases.

The audio guide is available in three languages: German, English and French. It accompanies you through all the stations of the museum and is included in the admission price - both with the combined cave and museum ticket and with separate museum admission.

The museum features interactive exhibitions on the geology and formation of the cave system, scientific cave research, prehistoric discoveries and the legend of St Beatus. With stations for feeling, seeing and hearing, the exhibition is designed for all age groups.

We recommend visiting the museum before the cave tour. This way, you can find out in advance how dripstones are formed, what cave explorers have discovered and the history behind the name. You will then recognise many things in the cave - which makes the cave experience even more intense.

The online shop is currently being rebuilt and will be operated externally in future. On site in the Beatus Shop you will find a selection of books, souvenirs and articles relating to the cave world - including the children's book "Flimbo, Emma & the secrets of the St. Beatus Caves" for CHF 23.
