In the afternoon, explore the interactive adventure trail with Flimbo the dragon, then let off steam in the playground with dragon slide and wooden castle.
3.00 pm: Ice cream & way back
An ice cream at the snack bar at the cave entrance, marvelling at the waterfall again. Head home with lots of stories to tell.

The dragon story, told for children
Why the cave is called what it is.
A long, long time ago, a dragon lived in the cave on Lake Thun. He guarded the caves and gorges and would not let anyone in. Until one day the brave monk Beatus arrived. According to legend, he drove the dragon out of the cave. The caves have borne his name ever since. For children, the dragon story comes to life on the Flimbo Trail and in the museum. The little cave dragon Flimbo is the friendly descendant of the legendary dragon and accompanies the children through the adventure world. If you look closely, you might find a trace ...
Children's book tip
"Flimbo, Emma & the Secrets of the St Beatus Caves" tells the adventures of the cave dragon. CHF 23, available exclusively in the Beatus shop. The perfect souvenir of the excursion.
The perfect bad weather programme
So much the better. The temperature in the stalactite cave is a constant 8-10 °C all year round - regardless of the weather outside. The cave, the museum and the covered snack bar offer a complete excursion programme even in the rain. And the waterfall in the outdoor area shows its most spectacular side in rainy weather: children and adults alike are amazed when the masses of water thunder down into the lake.
The St. Beatus Caves are one of the few excursion destinations in Switzerland that work in all weathers. No plan B necessary. The cave is Plan A, which is just as exciting when the sun is shining as when it's cloudy.
