Two experiences - one wintry place

Winter on Lake Thun means two things at the St. Beatus Caves: fondue on the rock, served daily during the winter season in the sheltered outdoor area next to the restaurant. And the cave raclette in the rock, an exclusive candlelight dinner on selected Friday evenings in the cave. Two experiences, each with its own unique character.

Fondue on the rock

Daily during the winter season (November to March) - possible without reservation.

Steaming cheese, the scent of pine needles and the glow of warm lights: our classic fondue comes from the Amsoldingen cheese dairy - 200 g per person, served with bread and pickled vegetables. You can also order potatoes and kirsch (CHF 5 each).

The grotto is located outside. We recommend warm clothing - we will be happy to provide you with cosy woollen blankets.

Cave raclette in the rock

On selected Friday evenings, we transform the grotto into a sea of candlelight. In the glow of countless flames, you can enjoy raclette à discrétion - as much as you like.

Included in the price: Mulled wine or mulled cider to start, raclette à discrétion with white wine, tea and mineral water, coffee and biscuits to finish. As a souvenir, you will take home your personalised candle raclette in a cloth bag.

Please note: Not suitable for small children. No dogs. Cancellation possible in case of bad weather.

Frequently asked questions about fondue and raclette

The fondue season lasts from 24 November to 27 March. Opening hours: Mon-Fri 11.30am-4pm, Sat 11.30am-8pm, Sun 12.30pm-4pm. Fondue is served daily during the season.

The classic fondue costs CHF 29 for adults and CHF 19 for children (6-16 years). Included are 200 g fondue from the Amsoldingen cheese dairy with bread and pickled vegetables. Potatoes and kirsch can be ordered for CHF 5 each.

The fondue is served in the outdoor grotto, which is transformed into a wintery fir forest. We recommend warm clothing. We are happy to provide you with cosy woollen blankets.

The cave raclette is an exclusive experience for groups - ideal for company outings, clubs and families. Enjoy raclette à discrétion by candlelight in the raclette grotto. Included are drinks, coffee and a candle raclette oven as a souvenir. Book via events@beatushoehlen.ch.

Unfortunately, the cave raclette is not suitable for small children and dogs are not allowed. However, the fondue on the rock in the grotto is open to all guests - including families with children. You can find current dates in our event calendar.
