William White DUO

The performances of William White, who grew up in Barbados, are bursting with energy. He is a gifted songwriter and singer, but the messages in the songs are just as important to him as strong melodies and driving grooves.

You can hear his Caribbean roots in William White's music. It is described as a mixture of soul, funk and reggae. Since Jack Johnson made his international breakthrough, the Swiss have realised that they already have this sound in their own country with William White, a Swiss by choice from Barbados. Since then, William White has been a permanent fixture in the Swiss music scene. His strong, melodious songs are as much a message as they are music. They are about love, freedom, justice and respect. The songs are called "Sweet Love", "Peace, " Freedom", "How Can I Be Free", "Evolution" or "Soulrider". They stick with you and describe an attitude to life. He sees them as a way to shake people up and move them. His albums climb the top ten in the charts. But William White is not interested in chart positions. Like Bob Dylan, Neil Young or Bob Marley, he strives to emphasise the content of his music without sacrificing quality. William White is regarded as one of the best live acts in the country. It is no coincidence that he recently played on the main stage of the legendary Paléo Festival in Nyon and his last album "Open Country" started at number 2 in the album charts and with his current single "Light" (2019), William White shows that he also knows how to make his songs sound contemporary.
