Opening times of St Beatus Caves
From 13th of march till 24th of october open daily from 9am to 5pm

(Due to the Restaurants 2.0 renovation, the season end date has been moved up to October 24, 2021).

Open daily from 9am to 5pm
Hot food served until 4pm, pizzas and light meals until 5pm

Opening times of St Beatus Caves Museum
Open daily from 10.30am to 5.30pm

Rules

Guided tours depart approximately every 45 minutes and last around 75 minutes
Since 2015 it has been possible to explore the caves without a guide
Inside the caves the temperature remains constant, between 8 and 10°C. We recommend you bring warm clothes
Groups are able to reserve a private guide; please call +41 33 841 16 43 to book
No smoking or eating inside the caves
You may take photos, but do not use a tripod
For safety reasons, St Beatus Caves are not pushchair or wheelchair accessible

Getting Here :

St Beatus Caves are located in central Switzerland, at the heart of the Bernese Oberland and overlooking the lake of Thun.The central location means we are easily accessed by all forms of transport ; by boat, by bus, by car, by bicycle or on foot. A mode of transport for each and every taste !
For those travelling on foot, here are the journey times to St Beatus Caves from the following places :
From the road (car park / bus stop) : 8-10 minutes
From Sundlauenen via the walking path : 20-25 minutes
From Beatenbucht via the walking path : 60-70 minutes
From Merligen via the walking path : 75-90 minutes
From Interlaken via the Weissenau path : 2hr – 2hr30 minutes

Parking :

Two car parks are available for visitors to St Beatus Caves. It is quick and easy to bring the family to visit by car, with immediate access from the car to the Caves. Another option is to arrive on foot, by bike – or even by boat, with a pier located just a few minutes walk from the Caves!

Accommodation and Bed & Breakfast :

Restored in 2013, the forest house offers bed and breakfast accommodation for up to ten people.
Only 5km from interlaken and 19 km from Thun, the house is situated in the very heart of St Beatus Caves park. It is the perfect spot for nature-lovers, with its impressive views over the impossibly blue Lake Thun at the foot of the Bernese Alps. Summer or winter, it is perfectly situated for exploring Interlaken and the Jungfrau region. And the cherry on the cake – it is even well-served by local transport, including travel by boat !
